Turkish Delight

My sleek silhouette dances across the walls.

Tea lights casting a rose tinted hue that fills

the room with excitement and promise,

decadently indulgent like Turkish delight.

I spray my body with oil of Eastern origin,

skin prickling, awaiting the powerful seduction.

I stop and take stock of my bedroom that

is suddenly cast adrift on an adulterous sea.

Once upon a time I dreamt of the white lace dress

filled with soft peaks of innocence, happiness completed

by a gold band placed delicately around the vein leading

to my heart, declaring an elusive vow of eternity.

Promises housed in a grief stricken jelly, encased in

chocolate to make the bitter truth palatable and sweet.
