The Night

The laughter was breaking from the bar,

The last verse from the comic's recital read,

As the drinks clinked with the ice,

Formed from what was no longer taken for granted,

And 'Happy The Man' was on everyone's mind

The socially awkward congregated with the butterflies,

And what was on everyone's mind was attended to,

Old and new material was read and opinions voiced,

The casualness was key to the night,

And tomorrow could do its worst, for we had lived that night.
