Manchester’s first weekly poetry night – Bang Said The Gun: Manchester - is launched this week at the Old Nag’s Head, in Jacksons Row, off Deansgate.

Bang Said The Gun in London is considered one of the best poetry nights in the country and has recently been reaching over 4 million viewers on Channel 4’s Random Acts.

The night will celebrate the best in local and national poets as well as offering audience members the chance to compete for the coveted Golden Gun prize in the Top Banana Open Mic. Each week's Golden Gun prize winner is offered a guest set at a future Bang Said The Gun: Manchester.

The first event’s guests are Ben Mellor, Jackie Hagan, and Charlotte Henson. Hosts are Dominic Berry, Kieren King, Rod Tame, Dave Viney and Benny-jo Zahl. It all kicks off at 7.30pm on Thursday 26 April. Entry is £5/£3 or with flyer. Contact: bangmanchester@groups.live.com More details and map
