Wigan festival's poetry slam tonight

entry picture

There’s a poetry slam at the Tudor House hotel in Wigan on 12 April, as part of Leigh and Wigan’s Words festival, which lasts from 9-21 April. This year’s slam will have a different format with poets drawn against each other in rounds working up to the final in an FA Cup-style knockout slam. Potential winners should have four poems ready for this innovative slam format. The first prize is £75. Kick-off is 8pm. Please email woodenhorse@tiscali.co.uk for more details and to sign up. Map

I will be with you in spirit but not in flesh. I'm aged 55 now, so I'm not sure I'm robust enough for a slam.

Any road, may the maddest, baddest most dangerous-to-know contender take the £75 quid and spend it all on the night buying ale for everyone and getting hog-whimpering pissed!
