Spring; Hopes Eternal

entry picture

Waiting for that moment when it feels like Spring

Seems eternal,

Is that where hope springs from?

Looking for the first green shoots

Listening for the first tune from the Thrush

Sensing the first bright day

And feeling the first warmth of the sun,

Waiting for that moment when it first feels like Spring.

Smelling that distinct freshness in the air

Hearing that clear bleat of lamb on the wind

Seeing that bright splash of crocus colour

Feeling that definite surge of hope and spirit,

Defines that moment when it first feels like Spring.

Though blizzards and storms are yet to come

And gales and floods may still over-run

From that first moment when it feels like Spring

The world is a better place and the summer’s promise near,

The wonderful genesis of nature’s cyclic year.

Living for that moment when it feels like hope

Springs eternal,

Is that where Spring itself comes from?

Enjoyed this, Roy. My kind of poem. Nature is such a beautiful subject to write about. 8-)

Lovely rythmic flow. The seasons are a 'one' aren't they? Senses and alliteration (without overdoing it) brings brightness and enjoyment. Liked it. Ta much.

Refreshing presentation of a never fading theme.

`looking` `listening` `sensing``smelling` `feeling`

I like the way you`ve got all the senses into it

Also your:

`The wonderful genesis of natures cyclic year`

The poem is deceptively simple in execution.

Looked at your last...different innit?

Particularly liked the:

`Into something smaller, vile and degenerate than just the sum of their two parts`

Excellent...(but should that `just` be there?)

Good work
