Welcome to Britain theme for Buxton competition

entry picture

Welcome to Britain is the theme for the Buxton festival poetry competition, deadline 6 April, in recognition of the Queen’s diamond jubilee and the Olympics. The organisers say:  “Use this theme to celebrate what's special about our country, highlight current issues, inspire reflection on being British or consider our impact on our environment and culture. Poems could focus on a particular place or figure from history, or on a British invention or sports; even our food and drink and weather.” First prize is £300, and there are open, youth and children’s categories. The entry fee for the Open category is £5 per poem; the younger categories are free. More details
