entry picture

The literary community was shocked and saddened earlier this year by the death of the founder of Manchester’s Poets & Players, Linda Chase. Thursday 20 October sees the launch of her final collection, Not Many Love Poems, an event that is also part of the Manchester Literature Festival. Her poems, inspired by love, illness, family and art, will be given new voice by her many friends, supporters, colleagues and fans. Chaired by Linda’s publisher, Michael Schmidt, readers will include Carola Luther, John McAuliffe, Mimi Khalvati, Matthew Welton, Grevel Lindop and Vona Groarke. Time: 7.30pm. Venue: International Anthony Burgess Foundation, The Engine House, Chorlton Mill, 3 Cambridge Street, Manchester M1 5BY. Tickets are free but booking is advised. Book on 0843 208 0500 or Quay Tickets
