entry picture

VAUDEVILLE100: to celebrate 8 years and 100 shows - the cabaret to end them all! Friday 24th October 2008, greenroom, Manchester.

We invite artists of many persuasions to submit work in any of the following categories:

  • Short performance (max 10 mins) - dance, speech, physical-theatre, music...
  • Artists movies (on DVD please) - experimental and artistic films...
  • Non-human / puppet performance - a vaudeville first, a unique "non-human" cabaret

(imaginative applications welcome)

The event will be a multi-stage/space festival of artistic endeavours in the spirit of DadA and the absurd.Inspired by the original Cabaret Voltaire (circa 1916) and the enduring tragedy of the 21st century...

There will be four main spaces:

  • a music-hall/cabaret-style stage
  • a miniature-cinema (screening throughout the event)
  • a non-human/puppet "stage"
  • and bar/"open"space

The audience will be free to explore the whole environment throughout the evening and thus "edit" their own show.

To participate:

Please send a short description / proposal, you can make multiple proposals (specifying which category/s: PERF, MOVIE or PUPPET) TO Jex: technical@greenroomarts.org (important: in email subject heading please put "VAUDEVILLE100"). Please include a contact phone no.

Deadline for proposals: Friday 19th September 2008.

Vaudeville is an artist-led collaborative event and we will try to accomodate as many proposals as possible. As this will be an ambitious show with many participants ALL proposals should be technically simple (or self-contained).
