Crystal Shoe

entry picture

You may believe me or not

But Cinderella’s story

Brought me to a different plot:

How quickly Prince all forgot

I will tell you in short.

When Cinderella was running away

And on the stairway

Had lost her crystal shoe,

It was really true.

Prince couldn’t catch her up.

He stumbled on something,

Thought it was a queen’s cup.

The shoe slipped down the steps.

Perhaps if it was not broken,

The story could have, as in a tale,

A happy end. But…..

That time his feet he strained,

And…it strongly pained.

His feelings to the girl had waned at once

Cinderella had no another chance.

That’s how it turned out.

That’s how it often happens in life.

A miracle of magic can be easily shattered,

If only your own feelings would be mattered.

Thank you dear Isobel for the comment.Much appreciate it.
As to writing poetry in a foreign language, for me it's not difficult at all. I just rhyme my ideas. x

Thanks for having a go Larisa! I think you are amazing to write poetry in a foreign language - it must be so difficult.

I like your take on the theme - a glass slipper - no better symbol for fairytale romance and the ending to your poem brings us all down to earth with a bump! x
