Our purpose in life is to encourage individuals to share their poetry with others in live poetry events.

Since its creation in 2003, Write Out Loud has cajoled, encouraged, persuaded, applauded and championed individuals taking those first nervous steps – coming out - into the world of performance poetry. We have all been there!

We believe poetry to be highly enjoyable when shared with others in what can otherwise be a solitary activity.

Our website (www.writeoutloud.net) lists places where you can share your poetry (look for the open mic symbol). it has all known poetry events across the British Isles, from Limerick to Glasgow to London to Cornwall; not least our own, Write Out Loud events in and around north-west England.

And we have expanded our activities even further. Write Out Loud is increasingly invited to appear as a group of poets at other venues, and to organise entire poetry events with guest performances from our poets, open mic and compere.

For more information, or to enquire how we can organise an event for you, contact paul@writeoutloud.net

Our last guest appearance was at the Citizen 32 night at Manchester’s Urbis; our next is on July 21st at Spotlight, Yorkshire House pub, Lancaster (more details on www.writeoutloud.net). Come along and see how nervous newcomers have become polished performers.

These will include up-and-coming performance poet, Scott Devon, whose Blind Rage, our poem of the month, recalls the terror of those sacrificed in D-Day’s first wave attack on those horrific beaches; and Scott’s personal connection with that.
