Race issue out on July 25

At last, the race issue is on its way and features some of the best poets in the UK, USA and throughout the world.

British black poets, Benjamin Zephaniah and Lemn Sissay share their views on race, racism and their poetic roots and have provided us with some excellent examples of their work.

And from across the Atlantic, we publish the work of beat legends Amiri Baraka and Diane di Prima.

 

Poets sign up for the "left's Glastonbury"

Citizen 32 is hosting a poetry slot at this year's Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival next Saturday (July 19th).

Poet/activists can take part in the open mic event between and Anyone interested in taking part can email editor.citizen32@ntlworld.com or speak to Citizen 32 co-editor Dave Toomer and sign up on the day.

The brilliant Elvis Mcgonnagal, who featured in the magazine's "class" issue, will be performing at the festival on Sunday July 20th. Full details of the festival can be found at

Activists bid farewell to socialist hero

Activists paid their last respects on Friday (July 11) to a socialist hero at the funeral of Terry Fields, who died last weekend.

Former socialist MP, Terry Fields, who went to jail for his principles, died from lung cancer at the age of 71.

Terry , a Militant MP in the 1980s served  Liverpool Broadgreen as a “workers’ MP on a workers’ wage.  A tireless defender of working class people, he was jailed for refusing to pay the hated poll tax.
