The Woman in White

entry picture

Litfest is inviting you to enjoy a rip-roaring Victorian mystery novel in your lunch-hour this month – Wilkie Collins’ classic ‘The Woman In White’. A suspenseful tale of madness and stolen identity, with a cast of weird and wonderful characters, it has been a readers’ favourite since its serialisation in 1859-60.

The popular Lunchtime Classics events are a 40-minute introduction to works of great literature, with a chance to hear excerpts read aloud. Dr Catherine Spooner from Lancaster University will be reading from the novel and discussing its author, Wilkie Collins (pictured), who boasted a personal life scarcely less sensational than his writings.

‘The Woman In White’ reading will be on Friday, 18th February at 1pm at The Storey in Lancaster, and tickets are priced at £4 (£2 concessions). Tickets can be bought online at www.litfest.orgor from the Lancaster Visitor Information Centre on 01524 582394.
