IMAGINATION-BASED POETRY WORKSHOP

WHEN? JULY 22-24 2011

WHO? CO-RUN BY NY POET GEORGE WALLACE AND UK POET GERALDINE GREEN

WHERE? AT MADDY PRIOR’S ‘’STONES BARN’’ – ROWELTOWN, CUMBRIA, UK

Stimulate your writing through exercises based on re-discovering and using your imaginative skills. Imagination-based poetry moves away from the traditional or confessionalist approach to writing poetry and, through magical realism, surrealism and fictive writing, permits the writer to create space for the imagination to explore, invent and roam. This workshop will encourage you to play with language. As well as producing new work, we will also spend time on feedback and editing, and host a poetry reading for course participants and tutors.
