Maryport Litfest

entry picture

Senhouse Roman Museum in Maryport in Cumbria will be having their third litfest from 26th -28th November 2010. It promises to be a provocative and exciting weekend, a celebration of words in all their forms.

In their unique take on LitFests, the theme will once again use a stone from the Collection at the Senhouse Roman Museum as a starting point. This year the Venus Stone leads to an exploration of love in all its aspects, from erotic, through romantic, to great passions such as love of land and country.

Among many other luminaries, renowned author and broadcaster Eric Robson will share his own passions, biographer Kathleen Jones will talk about the life of her latest subject Katherine Mansfield, also judging a poetry competition on the subject of Love, Grevel Lindop will explore sensuality in Literature, Chris Pilling will open the door on French and Latin Love, Michael Baron will talk about the poetry of Tom Rawlings, while Keith Richardson will explore his love of his own Cumbrian landscape and characters with the latest in his prize-winning trilogy.

The weekend has a packed programme with something for everyone, and you can buy a weekend season ticket for £35 which gives entry to all events except the Saturday creative writing workshop – this represents a saving of £15, and you get a goody bag!
