Crash

Somewhere during the car journey

I lost my love for you.

I’m sure I had it with me

when I left.

M1, M25, M4,

it’s on one of them, I’m sure,

but I lost it on the way.

And when I turn into your street

and I spot you waving,

I drive my car fast,

straight, headlong,

into your smile.

For myself, I like the idea of the poem ending on the line
"but I lost it on the way."
Makes it more enigmatic, which I like. Car journies can be so stressfull!! I am the world's worst navigator - or so my partner always told me!!!
