Sitting outside the Sloop Inn

with my half of cider

reading Sexual Personae

by Camille Paglia,

wearing my sparkly pink spectacles

and taking notes

on Emily Dickinson

I feel enthroned in

independent womanhood

Only occasionally

are we truly

ourselves.

Great poem; I love how you encapsulate the three persons involved in biographical works - the person studied, the writer and the reader, an intriguing triangle of minds. Interesting book too. Perhaps other people might now read it also. Wasn't it weird that you already had it! How small is the world.

Being 'enthroned in independent womanhood' is a great place to be Ann - apart from the very odd downer, I enjoy it immensely. I like the brevity of this poem and the mood and message you convey so well. x

Friday was a magical day, sunny, misty, windy, and one of those days when I am so happy to spend time on my own. This is my snapshot of that day. (By the way, I have NEVER seen the Sloop without crowds of people outside - photo must have been taken at the crack of dawn!)
