Black & white.

Black and white.

We can see the world this way but then it becomes confusing.

A lot of gray areas.

Neglected.

Because you try to convince yourself that a “middle” ground doesn’t exist. Which would then be pushing away any sense of emotion. It’d be purely logical.. kinda of like… robots

But then again.

It’s not like a world of color is any different.

During the day it’s beautiful.. not any less confusing though..

you’re just so happy the confusion is less.. but when the lights turn out.

And the darkness takes over.

It’s all black and white anyways.

Colors fade and merge into shades of light and dark.

It’s still confusing.

Still gray areas.

Still at times… ugly.

A world of life so fulfilling yet so draining.

The world can’t even trust or judge itself and yet.

As humans we have come to feel like we can do that amongst the world and each other.

But we can’t.

At times I find myself wishing I was a duck on the ponds I drive miles to see for peace.

But not even that would take away ugliness.

There’s still a circle of life.

The duck can still make one mistake.

And then.

The duck is gone.

Maybe it is black and white.

I wish the sun never set.

The world is not black and white as much as some want to believe it is. And there is much gray area. At three quarters of a century old, I have seen and experienced so many situations that did not have clear cut answers....tough decisions, lots to weigh on both sides....situations in which neither decision is comfortable... that is not black and white, not simple.
This poem expresses this dilemma so well.
