Hope in the Rain.
One.
Two.
Three.
The clear droplets ran down the surface of a transparent car window
The downpour of drips blurred something only eyes could follow.
I saw colour.
A beautiful mix of colours
of my surroundings.
When the shades blended together
I felt safe.
It was something I couldn’t explain.
As though everything around me was getting a wash
A restart button
A new beginning
A new story
That all of this was just a dream
That after the the years of continuous torment
After the tears of the heaven descended upon us
Everything would feel different
That everything would be different
Perhaps better.
The sound of the so-called ‘sickening, frightening’ thunder
Yet to me was and still is some of nature’s most fascinating wonders
Power struck my eardrums
It was loud, I would admit
But it was reassurance
Telling me that all of this was going to be okay, an end to a chapter
That its army of liquid drizzle would give us a start over
Then there
Flashes of lightning shot at the ground
Yet for once my heart didn't pound
Problems that have ever existed in this world disappeared
Healing the ones who cannot continue to bear
The poor
The rich
The broken.
Perhaps to you
A storm seems like a moment of discomfort.
But to me
It feels like the feeling of eternal relief.
Hope.
