Golden Rays in Monsoon Days

Golden Rays in Monsoon Days
Sheikh Shanto Bin Abdur Razzak

In the evening sky, the cloud-boats float,
Their charming grace strikes a tender note.
My fragile heart, in wonder’s embrace,
Finds joy in the monsoon’s blushing face.

Snowy egrets soar back home at last,
Eyes linger where rainbows have amassed.
Nature wears hues in a splendid spree,
A thousand tunes dance in the breeze—oh see!

How lovely the sun after rains that poured,
Golden lightning strikes, my soul is floored.
Tender leaves sprout, fresh and bright,
Grasshoppers twirl on grass in delight.

Worms and beetles break the earthen crust,
Sparrows chirp by the window’s rust.
Lost in thought, I gaze outside,
Books are ignored while dreams collide.

In sparkling ponds, fish leap and play,
Frogs puff songs that echo away.
Dopati, Malati, golden champa bloom,
Kadamba whispers, stirring perfume.

When did the sun slip out of sight?
On the porch, alone, I hear crickets at night.
I think: no land holds such wondrous grace—
Fairylands live here, in my mother’s embrace.

Life’s sorrow grows light by nature’s hand,
In monsoon’s golden rays, I drift to dreamland.
