The Inertia of Existence
The pitter-patter sounds from far,
Approaching my bench
Next to my car
Will power fails to motivate me
To turn and look
At the kids running from the tree.
My head feels heavy and neck is stiff,
It is not really so.
Just lethargy, despair and uncalled-for grief
The pitter-patter is fast, excited and hasty,
Small bright eyes glance at me,
And lose interest in my blank stare, quickly.
They were light - light in weight and auras,
I feel like their nemesis
Dense – heavy with silence and secrets.
