Diplopia

Diplopia

When I consider how my light is bent

My two eyes capturing two converging scenes,

I wonder truly how my time was spent

In looking, without thinking what it means.

Before they parted ways, to circumvent

The natural perspective we expect

When Covid’s random danage caused these ills

Which fresnal screens do partially correct

Such minor injury should not deter

My still remaining projects from fruition.

I never was too focused in the past

And multitasking always my ambition.

I’m often in two minds, so why be slow

To match one eye to each, and good to go.

It is remarkable that you have been able to distill this unpleasant condition into such a fine poem, Freda, and with such subtle, understated humour as well. I really admire it. Best wishes to you.
