Impunity in Power!
In today’s shocking miscarriage of justice, Donald Trump, a criminal convicted on 34 charges, is acquitted of any punishment by Judge Merchan, just 10 days before his return to the White House. This decision marks a scandalous blow to the integrity of the US legal system, highlighting the stark divide between the powerful and the powerless. Despite the overwhelming evidence and the jury’s verdict, Trump walks away unpunished, his actions seemingly above the law, infallible like the Pope. Justice has been bent to wealth and influence, leaving a system that no longer holds even the most powerful accountable.
A felon president walks free, unscarred,
Thirty-four charges, yet none will guard.
A jury’s verdict, given clear,
But Judge Merchan’s decision? Shameful here.
A monster dressed in power’s guise,
Whose hands are stained, whose conscience lies.
The law is broken, torn apart,
Injustice reigns, a poisoned heart.
A man who scorns, with no remorse,
And still ascends to claim his course.
How does the wealthy, with their might,
Waltz past the truth, and win the fight?
No prison, no fine, no bitter blow,
For crimes that shake the world below.
The weak stand watch, their voices lost,
As justice crumbles, at what cost?
A future torn, a nation torn,
With laws defiled, and hope forsworn.
The president, guilty as he is,
Shall sit above, without a quiz.
Rich against poor, with no defense,
This tale of greed, a dark pretense.
In just ten days, this monster's crowned,
While justice falters, lost, unbound.
How can we stand, and simply wait,
For a criminal to seal our fate?
The truth laid bare, yet it is scorned,
A nation bruised, betrayed, and mourned.

Hello Stephen,
Thank you so much once again. I appreciate your kind words about the poem. You’re absolutely right—Trump remains a criminal and is still subject to civil liability, yet the response in November 2024 showed a troubling disregard for these facts. It’s something I wanted to highlight, and I’m glad you picked up on that aspect. The indifference many seem to have towards his past actions is deeply concerning, and it’s something we can’t ignore. Thanks again for your thoughtful reflection.
