Song of the Earth
My spirit’s faint, of joy and beauty starved,
Of late, this grieving heart has known but gloom,
So, prayers I’ll say on ancient Anglezarke,
And dance with Gaia, to a brighter tune,
Where soars my soul, between earth sea and sky:
Fear’s put to flight, in nature is true strength.
A lark’s song celebrates up there on high
The beauty of our vast horizon’s length,
The grandeur of this refuge that’s our home,
Of healing blooms and birds, trees, dancing breeze,
Where cheerful brooks sing with a tinkling tone,
Here, teasing lovers laugh and take their ease.
To all life-giving things, all that give birth,
I offer praise in this, Song of the Earth.

Yes, Ray, Anglezarke is now a reservoir. It’s overlooked by a beauty-spot which has been popular for at least a hundred or so years; a cracking view in good weather.
