Break the curse

In the depths of his heart, a grudge remains,
Unyielding, unbroken, it forever sustains.
No forgiveness can reach his hardened soul,
For vengeance consumes him, to take its toll.

He seeks retribution for the pain he endured,
Believing he's entitled to goodwill assured.
How could she harm him, cause such despair,
Even if friends tore her apart, he'd still be unfair.

He wishes she'd taken the bullets for her own,
No cry, no pain, no suffering ever shown.
His mind plots revenge, an ominous scheme,
To bring her to her knees, begging for a dream.

Once she pleads for mercy, he'll decide with might,
How to strike her down, how to end her plight.
No pardon, no amends, no repentance can suffice,
In his eyes, she's crossed out, her fate sealed with ice.

He believes her death will bring him peace,
Her blood, countless wounds, a sight he'll release.
This vision replays, day in and day out,
Until it becomes real, he can't rest, no doubt.

He'll turn the world against her, every soul,
No place to hide, no one to console.
He'll buy each person's loyalty, their hands severed,
Leaving her defenseless, no one to be her shepherd.

Even from her God, he'll sever the bond,
Permanently detach her, make her respond.
This is the revenge he seeks, full of might,
To break a powerful woman, bending her to his spite.

But in this quest for dominance and control,
He fails to see the damage taking its toll.
For true strength lies not in causing another's pain,
But in forgiveness and compassion, where love can reign.

So let us break this cycle, this darkness within,
And choose forgiveness, a path that can begin.
For revenge may satisfy our ego's thirst,
But only forgiveness can truly break the curse.

But only forgiveness can truly break the curse.

They did it in South Africa, with apartheid.
