"I wear my hijab as an act of purity and modesty."

"The stares and glares I get from wearing my hijab I have never relished,

However this covering makes me feel honoured, safe and cherished.

For me the decrease in moral values make the hijab a must,

A source of liberation, dignity and protection from a lawless lust.

Many think that the hijab is a portable prison we have aquired,

Restricting our minds, lives and hearts never to be desired.

I wear my hijab to cover my neck ,throat and hair,

As a Muslim woman who believes her body is her own affair.

A dazzling display of immodest clothing sets off an alarm,

Wearing the hijab due to my faith ,protects me from harm,

Clothing choices are part of how I express myself and how I was brought up and bred,

Hopefully more and more people learn about the hijab and its acceptance continues to spread."

Wind forward a few hundred years...will any woman allow men to dictate what they wear?

Also Hugh,
Why do you feel the need to take on the voice of women / a woman?

"The stares and glares I get from wearing my hijab I have never relished,..."

Are women (Muslim women ) incapable of speaking up for themselves?

Hugh.
The human body is an inherently wonderful and beautiful thing, a part of God's creation, one is led to believe.

But as a young Christian man, I was taught that it is something to be ashamed about, something "Impure" in matters concerning sexuality; a way of thinking that has caused myself and others-both men and women-great mental distress and confusion.

You say "...a Muslim woman who believes her body is her own affair."
So why do so many men, (in the name of alleged Gods), make it their business to control what a woman should wear?
