Conversation with the Sky

Buddha and Jesus and Muhammad and Moses

sat down for a cup of tea

sitting on a celestial cloud

high up in those blue skies

far beyond our line of vision.

The plants greeted them with laughter

and the birds sang their mightiest songs of joy

at this meeting of great minds and wide hearts.

This fellowship of wisdom

discussed their travels

to lands across the planet,

all the common roads they traveled,

all their exquisite discoveries of hope and strength and peace.

At the end of the tea

as they collected their cups

for washing up,

they chuckled--

and we down here

turned our faces to the sky

and felt the wind and the raindrops and the warm sun,

and we down here

took deep breaths

and let go.

Who's in control, really?

The guys upstairs?

Nah, just love, they said,

just love.

An immensely satisfying poem, Hélène. It brings everything into proportion with economy and wit.. Superb.
