Christmas Fair

entry picture

A special day for Kirkby Lonsdale
the first Saturday of December
When Santa comes to visit
a tradition to treasure and remember

He rides in a horse drawn carriage
waves his magic wand at unlit trees
One by one the tree lights switch on
it’s truly magical, everyone agrees

Crowds line up on narrow pavements
jostle for the perfect place to stand
Wait impatiently for the main man
whilst listening to the marching band

Wrapped up in their warm winter coats
children with rosy cheeks all aglow
Stamping cold feet and rubbing gloved hands
grown ups secretly wish for snow

This year will bring some changes
with some new features and additions
Local community led events
a blend of new and old traditions

Alpine style Christmas market chalets
selling gifts and delicious treats
A church concert and carol singing
and lantern lit walks through the streets

Watch the big Christmas light switch on
then get all your festive shopping done
Late night shopping and indoor markets
there’s something for everyone

This year there’s a yurt in the churchyard
for the circus and silent disco
You will also find alpacas to pet
and of course Santa’s grotto

The town will look beautiful and festive
at this most wonderful time of year
The true spirit of the town will shine bright
bringing us all some Christmas cheer

"Stamping cold feet and rubbing gloved hands "

Reminds me to get out my thick hiking socks, woolly hat and gloves.
Manchester's mayhem-no ta!

Going to one in Ramsbottom today.
