Like A Rose

Like a rose in Winter, I pray for rain

I yearn for heat that fight the freezes

Hard frost gets me dormant, I plead

Whipping winds strips off old blooms

Like any other adversary, cold passes

I count on roots & soil it’s anchored

Harvested for amused lovers, joyful

Winter hurts, Autumn always comes
