That Sunny Day

I saw the color yellow that day

In the sky

Through the light of the peephole

On your face

You were my yellow

A light that brought warmth to the cold stillness of life

Perhaps that's why I couldn't see it

I was blinded by everything I saw in you

All of the good things

Memories I cherish so much I can’t bear to write in words

That day I last saw you

You transformed

That gleaming smile of yours hid an uncanny shade of red

A red so dark and murky

That it was enough to hide years and years of lies and fake promises

“Father, hold me close. Don’t let me drown.”

My corpse has been bobbing in these waters for 2 years now.
