Queer Up North International Festival (9 - 25 May)

The English Research Institute at MMU, in association with the Writing School, is delighted to co-host the following literary events in partnership with the Queer Up North International Festival. 

Literary Lunch with Jackie Kay: Sat 17th May (12:30 pm), ABode Manchester, 107 Piccadilly.

Renowned poet and novelist Jackie Kay gives gives an exclusive reading of a brand new (and as yet unpublished) short story, plus poetry from her last collection; and talks about her writing including the classic novel Trumpet. Price includes a glass of champagne upon arrival, a two-course lunch (with a vegetarian option available - please specify when booking) and coffee.

Paul Bailey: Sunday 18th May (5:30pm), John Rylands University Library, 150 Deansgate.

Twice Booker-shortlisted, Paul Bailey is the author of numerous novels, memoirs, biographies and plays, as well as a new history of the censorship of sexuality. On his first visit to Queer Up North, this great literary entertainer talks about his career and gives an exclusive preview of his next novel: The Ship-Boy’s Eyes.
