Donations are essential to keep Write Out Loud going

Gratitude Gallery

Ukraine crisis, PM crisis
Fuel bill crisis, Food cost crisis
Covid crisis , Health care crisis

Sometimes the news is just too much
impossible for us to bare
Sometimes we just have to switch off
but this doesn’t mean we don’t care

Sometimes I take myself away
from the constant distressing news
Sometimes its good to take a break
from the persistent crisis blues

Even the weather has changed now
it would seem spring has changed it’s mind
As we wake to winter chills
and leave the warm weather behind

But..
We still have lots to look forward to
lighter nights and brighter days
There will be reasons to smile
pleasure can be found in many ways

We need to be kind to each other
and look for the positives
Look for something good in each day
try to dismiss the negatives

Last year I did an exercise
to try to be grateful each day
Take a moment to appreciate
something good in any way

I took a picture every day
of something that made me smile
It really made a difference
and cheered me up for a while

It doesn’t have to be visible
It could be a sound, taste or scent
A memory that springs to mind
an invitation to an event

So, if like me the constant news
is making you feel a bit sad
Look for a reason to be grateful
and things may not seem so bad

I hope you find a reason to smile
something that makes you happy
I hope you find joy, cheer and hope
in your gratitude gallery

What a lovely thought, Julie. It is easy to fixate on the negative. Your idea deserves to catch on! 😀

A Gratitude Gallery is a good idea, Julie. I tell myself that I watch and read too much news, but somehow I can't stop.

Admirable sentiments, Julie. Thank you. I sometimes think you are the conscience of this site.
