Two Years On

Two years on since the first lockdown
remember those covid blues?
We all moaned about the new rules
and constant pandemic news

But two years on and with hindsight
there were some positives too
The pace of life slowed down
nowhere to go and nothing to do

Of course there were some dark, dark days
too much loss, grief and sadness
Difficult lessons were learned
as we muddled through the madness

But two years on and with hindsight
I preferred the covid news
Who could have known back then
the world could have so much more to lose

As Covid concerns are fading
those pandemic years in the past
A new crisis looms over us
we worry how long it will last

Now the news brings reports of war
scenes arduous to comprehend
As we watch on in disbelief
and wonder just where it will end

I hope you're right, Julie, that 'Covid concerns are fading, those pandemic years in the past.' Anecdotally, it seems that more people are getting it than ever, now that they don't regularly report the figures. Including me and the missus! Take care out there.
