Cold February Day

Define a crisp winter morning
this is my challenge for today
Describe what I see, hear and feel
on a cold February day

Take a deep breath of chilly air
inhale the sharpness of a knife
Awakening all your senses
your body alert and alive

To set the image in your mind
take a moment and close your eyes
Start at the top of the picture
imagine cloudless, bright blue skies

The land and trees have been transformed
crystallised and powdery white
A fresh dusting of icing sugar
has been sprinkled over night

Step on frozen garden puddles
hear them splinter, shatter and crack
See the intricate icy patterns
like a swirling ice skaters track

As far as your minds eye can see
everywhere is glistening white
No surface left untouched
everything shimmers in the bright sunlight

The sun is high in the sky
feel it’s delicate warmth your face
Breathe in and out, open your eyes
see it vanish without a trace

Define a crisp winter morning
this was my challenge for today
I hope you enjoyed this vision
of a cold February day
