A poet is giving away copies of her poetry collection to raise money for a local food bank at Christmas. Barbara Howerska will be giving a poetry reading at the Exchange Craft Beer House in Bradford on Wednesday 15 December at 8pm, where she will be giving away copies of her book The Widow Witch in exchange for donations to Bradford North food bank.

Barbara said she had the idea after Exchange Craft Beer House venue recently held its own benefit gig that raised over £1,000 for the food bank, from an audience of over 75 people. “So l thought what can l do to raise money for this need. I am really excited about the event, looking forward to entertaining people and raising some cash.”

She will be reading a selection of upbeat poems and giving away 50 copies of her poetry book, The Widow Witch, in exchange for donations to the food bank. Barbara is the author of two books of poetry published by Half Moon Press, and was an active member of Bradford’s Beehive Poets, before going on to run a monthly open mic called Talking in Tongues.
