FOUR FOUR

The drummer knows his place

dominates his space

with light or heavy tread

the rhythm in his head.

Draws boxes round the sounds

releases all the hounds

his arms and feet with windmill stance

dominate the restless dance.

With his artists' sticks and brushes

he never drags and never rushes

master of the stretch of skins

he moves in circles widdershins.

Whether playing rock or blues

with energy he pays his dues

transporting us like Freddy Laker

like Buddy Rich or Ginger Baker.

So well put as always. Loved 'master of the stretch of skins, he moves in circles widdershins! Ever a pleasure to read. Jennifer

Thanks Holden and Stephen for supporting my poems - appreciated!

Thanks Stephen, I used that line also in the context of a sax player launching into a busy solo once! Well spotted rhyme. Also Charles Manson,,,,,

Another cracker, Ray. I like the idea of releasing all the hounds.

By the way, I've realised that Richard Branson rhymes with Ingmar Johannsen. I'll make a note......
