Sun Burn

Standing on the edge

Anxiety trembling thru your palms

Heavy breaths and restless thoughts

Equally to the shade of a tree

Disallowing any sunlight to penetrate

To some, the tree may feel like home

Shielding your innocent skin from deterioration

The Burning of life is inevitable

As is the peeling of self-reflection

The paleness of your melanin

Deserves to absorb the light afar from what’s deemed comfortable

In turn, your eyes deserve to see beauty of the tree

Without loathing beneath its canopy

◄ Let us fly
