In Darker Days We Gather

Sombre words and platitudes,
I guess we've heard them all.
In the darker days we gather,
to say our byes and to recall,
the best times we remember,
with those that have now passed,
with those with whom we laughed.

Another day, another dollar,
another day, yet more dolour.

Merciless time takes it's toll ever more,
though we strive to make the best we can
from whatever it is we have to hand,
ever praying that something will go to plan,
ere we see our journeys end,
ere we all cease to pretend.

Weary days, filled with haze,
weary days, lost in life's maze.

Illusions held within hearts & minds,
cloud our vision like tattered blinds,
we seek to peer through ragged tears,
but we're still no clearer on our fears,
all are taking on that great unknown,
so few have the future shore been shown.

Future days, future rain,
Future smiles and future pain.

And in the darker days we'll gather,
to say our goodbyes and to recall,
all those dear friends that left before us,
all of their deeds, both big and small...

Well I have now tweaked the third line of that last stanza Stefan, maybe it is a little easier on the tongue - especially as I removed the 'deliberate (lol) mistake' :)
