Married in nineteen forty seven 

Seventy three years of marriage 

Sadly, he did not see one hundred

But ninety nine is a grand age

 

He was the longest serving consort 

A husband, a prince amongst men

Father of four, grandfather to eight

Also great grandfather to ten

 

A commander in the Royal Navy

He served during World War Two 

He sacrificed his chosen career  

To serve his Queen and country too

 

A keen sportsman and a pilot

a designer, artist and writer 

Founder of the D of E Award

A great charity supporter

Prince Philip who passed yesterday 

He will be fondly remembered 

As our Queens rock, constant strength and stay
