LOSS

Bereavement brings its retinue, such a long line

coiling around your entrails, hanging onto your coat tails

endlessly posing questions.

The answers, if they come, are always hollow,

echoes on long tunnel walls in dim light.

When you are confounded don't try using reason

wish it well, let it go on its way

there will be other things on your mind.

Hi Graham. Yes, I do know because it was the theme of an Ealing comedy with Alec Guinness playing different roles to deceive the authorities, can't recall the name of the film just now. I wonder if they are still followed? More power to your elbow.

Ray, I don't know whether you are familiar with the term 'tontine' but I often think my friends and I should have entered into one some years ago for some added incentive.

Thanks so much for looking in and liking Jordyn, Mark, Aviva, Holden and Nazia.

Graham, I do envy that prosaic approach. I remember my mum being "anaesthetized" in her 90s to the passing of friends. I lost a friend recently to covid, the day before I had my jab. What a lottery!

A neighbour of mine is 84 and he recently told me that he has lost six friends/acquaintances since Christmas. He has a very refreshing attitude for an old 'un. He says if it wasn't them it'd be me! Bravo I say.

Always a thoughtful write Ray. Thanks for keeping us alert.

Graham
