Christmas Shopping

Christmas shopping during lockdown
All the local shops are closed in town
Endlessly I browse my mobile phone
Sat at my computer, I am home alone

I thought I'd do online shopping instead
A boring chore that  fills me with dread
Offers and discounts, right click to reveal
Price promise to beat the Black Friday deal

Look but can't touch it is the online way
Interest free credit no need to pay today
Next day delivery for today only its free
Splash all your cash in a shopping spree

No road rage for that last parking spot
No dashing back for the bits I forgot
No waiting for an hour for a cafe seat
No tired legs and aching, blistered feet

No need for social distance queueing
No cheesy Christmas display viewing
No Christmas songs repeat in my ear
No sight or sound of Christmas cheer

I take a moment and reminisce for a while
These Christmas memories make me smile
I realise that I really do miss all the above
Shopping for lovely gifts for the ones I love

I shut down my computer and mobile phone
Make myself a cup of tea as I am home alone
I get a pen and paper to write my list of gifts
Ready to shop local when this lockdown lifts

Thanks for the likes Hugh, Dean, Greg and Paul, Thank you for the comment Paul. I allow myself to plan and prepare for Christmas before December but music, films and decorations are not definitely not allowed until the 1st at the earliest.
