Lady Luck gave me a chance

"A woman walking out alone,

I snatched her bag and mobile phone.

I left her bruised and distressed,

My first crime, I'd passed my test.

I took my spoils quickly home

Through Yellow Pages my eyes did roam.

I came across the "Lady Luck Bargain Store,

Anything bought we give you more."

When I arrived my heart missed a beat,

The lady I had mugged ,I was about to meet.

Behind the counter, her arm in plaster,

"Good you've found my bag,not such a disaster."

She gave me a hug and a tenner to spend.

I put it in the charity box, promising not to re-offend.

Lady luck was on my side,I was offered a job at the Bargain Store,

I've been there now five years and a criminal no more.

I gave up crime because there is no long term gain,

'Cos in the end you'll suffer pain.

Locked in a cell, deprived of leisure,

To pay for your crimes at Her Majesty's Pleasure.

Lady Luck gave me a chance,

Don't let crime lead you a dance.

All thieving thoughts I have now expelled.

Name and address to be withheld."
