In the pitch dark of the night 

Sound asleep in my bed

Woken up with a jump start 

Electrical storm over head

 

Through my window blinds 

White lightning flashes 

Shaking my roof and walls

Cracks of thunder crashes

 

A constant noise pounding 

Hitting my window pane

There will be flooding tonight

Caused by this torrential rain

 

Rolling on into the distance

Thunder rumbles away

The lightning flashes fade

Turning the black night grey

 

The thunderstorm passes 

I'm tired and deadbeat 

Sleep finally finds me
