Drama and Memoirs in Spain

entry picture

In the Write Light are hosting creative writing workshops this July and September, that will not only help improve your writing skills, but also be memorable events in themselves.

Best selling Irish writers, Mia Gallagher and Nell McCafferty, will be running the five day workshops in Tarifa, on southern Spain’s Costa de Luz, where the focus will constantly be on providing a relaxed atmosphere for the writer. Each participant will receive a full body massage upon arrival; the fridge will be stocked with a healthy mix of Spanish, Moroccan and Indonesian food, so you can enjoy breakfast on a private, sunny terrace. Lunch will be served at one of Tarifa’s beach-front bodegas, and evening entertainment includes Flamenco, live music, poetry reading, and lively chat long into the night with like-minded friends.

Mia Gallagher, an award winning dramatist who had her fictional novel ‘Hellfire’ published in 2007 to critical and commercial success, will be running ‘Writing with Drama’. In this workshop, which runs from 7th-11th July, Mia aims to reveal the secrets of dramatic writing, and to take a look at the ways in which the elements of drama can enliven a piece of writing.

Renowned journalist, Nell Mc Cafferty, took the book world by storm with her memoir ‘Nell’, will be running a workshop that will focus on non-fiction, and the memoir in particular. ‘Conquering Memoir’ will run from 22nd-26th September, will look at the ways in which everyday life experiences can be transformed into gripping stories.

A creative writing workshop and holiday that offers a diverse mix of serious writing and serious fun, with heavenly accommodation & healthy food, sunshine & relaxation ...what more could you ask for?
