Pandora's Box Rap

So it's a jar and not a box

that's left to stand around unlocked!

Opportunity knocks

and they accuse her of what?

Allowing every ill to spill

out of the cracks; and that's the rap?

I know it's only mythology,

still they ought to check the facts:

the case is somewhat altered,

the lady might have faltered

a little or a lot but a jar is not a box!

That throws a different bent

on any criminal intent,

and her case ain't hopeless.

Shift your focus from unwrapping

to the gifts, don't be like those kids

I witness at Christmas.

Remember who sent the goods to us,

don't blame her for being curious;

don't blame the foot that steps on the landmine,

the teeth that bite on the poison,

the hands that open the letter-bomb,

the ears that follow the siren.

Unwrappers don't kill people; Gods do.

Hum... its like saying we `re not responsible for our own actions cos its all in the genes! A clever take on it though.

"witness at Christmas" - clever!
Personally I'm a dyslexic/Agnostic. Stay up most nights just wondering if there really is a dog . . .

I like the thinking behind this - similar to mine in some ways, but we apply the blame differently.

Really good, Ray, pithy in particulars. I like the writer to reader direct connection. First line is intriguing; last line is a corker in 'classical' summation.
