The Pupa(e)

Pupa(e)

So, there it was, just walking along,

Overly mature if truth be told.

And as it plodded lazily through its daily life

It listened to what was happening around it.

Not much clarity, but some murmurs and whispers gripped it with urgency, and it felt compelled to respond.

After some time, it became very clear –

The creature must change. It understood.

It wasn’t straight away, please take time to realise;

First came terror, fear, dread, so on,

But it bravely soldiered on like a rainbow persevering through the impending storm clouds.

The Powers That Be simply wanted it done –

It was to envelope itself within itself.

This seemingly impossible task

Was integral for its kind to undertake for survival.

Not knowing what lay ahead, the required actions were taken – it was alone, away, adjourned.

So, there it was, just all by itself,

Many lessons to learn, and time to be spent,

It settled into a meditative state –

Rest and reflections, recalling, retreating.

In the darkness and confinement, it was restricted, enlightened, free, and bold.

Now just a liquid; no – please don’t be sad!

For our dear little friend will soon be reborn,

With strength and knowledge, other traits such as these,

It doesn’t sound true, but it shall come to be!

Breaking through the restrictive yet comfortable shell, they feel awkward in their new head, but they will arrive.

And one day soon, there will be a reveal.

Liked, despised, somewhere in between, hopefully not judged,

Just stepping outside is a new form of brave,

And perceptions, reception, whatever – another thing to wave.

The realisations, the relief, the chrysalis forever a friend to the beautiful creatures.
