Daydream

Erebus puts his arms around me and hugs me close and tight

All my troubles melt away in the suns bright, warming light

The heat upon my freckled face inspires an unhindered smile

and I can stay in breeze and birdsong, I'll sit here for a while.

My eyelids close, my mind opens and images start to play

of mountains, fields, treks and climbs, long fulfilling days.

Oh how I long to stand on top of cliff in open air,

to feel the breeze against my skin, and whipping through my hair

To walk a path of a thousand miles, I do not care which realm

to be aboard a ship of sails with yours truley at the healm.

Blues and greens and yellows and reds all dance before my eyes,

to walk through day and sleep at night beneath clear starry skies.

These visions play and I can almost touch them with my hand

the water cool, the granite calming, the gleaming golden sand.

A darkness passes through this dream as a cloud covers the sun

Erebus leaves, my eyes open and I am back where I begun.

Sitting on my gardens' grass in momentary shade,

With hope renewed that hopefully soon, we will be free again.
