Robbery

one day in the spring the sun rose over our beginning

the warmth of its earliest rays gave us hope and rebirth

we woke ourselves up just to see it

for we knew it would be beautiful

we knew that clouds would pass

but the sun would always rise

it was an unspoken truth

we had no words but felt every feeling

living in our own world and rebelling in our own way

learning together as the snow melted

and loneliness lost its meaning

one day in the summer the sun rose as we fell in love

I promised to always take care of you and tried my hardest as the heat pushed us to our limit

and you were there for me

when the brightest season became our darkest hour

I relished in my freedom for you, for our world

a world I wanted to be in, always

a warm summer breeze became priceless

and your arms around me; invaluable

one day in the fall the sun rose as our world changed

we were wiser, older, losing touch with reality and the fragility of love

the heat left the atmosphere as we took on a new routine and made new mistakes

colorful leaves brought a renewal of my promise to you

through crowded fairgrounds and difficult farewells

we took care of each other

the world grew cold and restless

but never empty

always alive

one day in the winter the sun rose over our end

I will never forget the life cycle of our love

and the first sunrise we saw together

saying nothing, feeling everything

cold weather and warm hearts bring change

as unwelcome as our last sunrise was

it was a sunrise nonetheless

and there will be one every day

in this wild, wild world
