DOWN UNDER

I so remember as a child

Struggling with the idea of 'down under':

Boys and girls of half the world

Living 'upside -down'!

But the joke is -

There's a part of me that still wonders!

Regardless of education,

The bizarre concept tickles.

How could I harbour the humour

Of such a thought?

I do know the whole matter

Is really understanding 'scale':

People on the planet

Like aphids on a basketball.

Or something like that.

Do Australians call us 'up over'?

Sheesh forgot to go and check
The baby registry
Before proclaiming you were bred
Here in Australee

I thought that summers here were hot
But Blythe did prove me wrong
'Tis wonder you're not frizzled up
Let's sing a desert song

Hee-Hee! Yes, amusing thought, Cynthia. Lots of fun.

And No, Don I was born in Blythe, grew up in Africa and have spent only 45 years here in Oz - oh except a short 18 months in the cradle of storytelling 15 years ago.

(I only tried to stand on my head when very small and got quite dizzy.) ?

Frances, me. we both are
Both Australian bred
Let me reassure you Cynth
We both stand on our head

You don't believe me do you?
Oh ye of little faith

Now you who live 'up over'
I cannot understand
How standing on your feet all day
Can make life oh so grand?

Frances, I found it, and I'm posting. It still makes me laugh today. It really doesn't take much to amuse me!
