Biography

My poems are very dark in nature but were created to provide insight to the feelings, thoughts, and mindset of those suffering from depression and suicidal thoughts. Many people assume depression is something you can just get over....but it's not..it is a big deal and I hope these poems shed light on how serious it can be. Facts and figures from the AFSP (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention) : In 2017 (latest available data), there were 47,173 reported suicide deaths in the U.S. Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for those between the ages of 15 and 34 in the United States. Currently, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. A person dies by suicide about every 12.8 minutes in the United States. Every day, approximately 123 Americans take their own life. Ninety percent of all people who die by suicide have a diagnosable psychiatric disorder at the time of their death. There are 3.54 male suicides for every female suicide, but three times as many females as males attempt suicide.

Masks On the outside you see Someone happy and carefree Full of smiles, giggles, laughs and prosperity Focused, determined, set on accomplishing goals, A character that shines with a heart full of gold But no one sees what’s going on inside, The anguish, despair, the desire to die The hurt, the pain, the endless tears, The worry, the question, “why am I still here?” No hope, no happiness, only pointless desires Asking God to, please, extinguish my fire… Of a life that’s a waste, no purpose at all But with the masks she wears, You wouldn’t know it at all….
