Sebahate J. Shala

Biography

I am a Researcher and Analyst with a background in journalism. I am a writer and a blogger, too. I started writing poetry when I was a fifth-grader motivated by the political situation in my country, Kosovo: years of repression during the 1990s and war in 1998-1999. After Kosovo liberated in 1999, I moved to journalism and reporting. I felt I didn't want to expose my feelings but be more realistic, reporting the truth, contributing to social and political changes while positively affecting peoples' lives. Currently, I do freelance research and writing with the main focus on international security and politics. I specialize in war and peace studies, specifically, I analyze factors to conflict, peacebuilding and statebuilding processes and provide recommendations for practitioners and policymakers.
